Serving personnel and their families can call
Our 24-hour Helpline 0800 138 1619 remains available to all veterans and their families for confidential mental health advice and support. However we are unable to take calls from those under the age of 18.
Under 18?
If you are under the age of 18 and need support or help please contact one of the following services:
What happens when I ring the Helpline?
You will hear a short recorded message about confidentiality and then a brief silence while your call is added to our call handling system. Your call will then be answered by one of our Helpline advisors. If all the advisors are busy, you can either hold or leave a message so we can call you back.
What sort of support will I get?
We'll provide a listening ear and emotional support. If appropriate, we can also refer you into our service for clinical treatment. We can also signpost you to other organisations that can help with welfare, housing, physical health and relationships.
What happens if I'm in a crisis situation?
We are open all day, every day, providing emotional support and advice, but we are not a crisis service. If you call us and are in crisis, we'll find someone who can help you like the Samaritans or the Accident and Emergency department at your local hospital.
If you are in a crisis and need urgent help, please contact your GP, dial 999, or if you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts contact Samaritans’ Veterans Support Hub for the military community on 0808 175 3075 for confidential emotional support.
